Forget me not.

Permanent love.

Alfred Angelo

I saw a TV commercial the other day for something called Alfred Angelo (www.alfredangelo.com). I just figured that since I hadn't heard of it before, I would check it out. I've only looked through some of the website but I found something I instantly loved: dresses inspired by Disney princesses! I've seen this idea before but I actually really love their interpretations.

Snow White
(This is my personal favorite dress! It's surprising because I didn't think Snow White would be my first choice)

Tiana
(So she's officially a Disney Princess! I think it definitely captures a southern belle type of look)

Sleeping Beauty
(Sleeping Beauty is probably the princess I would most relate to and I think the dress is my second favorite. But I am short and that dress is pretty poofy)

Jasmine
(They definitely added a little bit of an exotic touch. I wish there was a little something more but I still like the neckline.)

Little Mermaid
(of course it's a mermaid style dress! I think it's very appropriate and sea-like.)

Cinderella
(I'm glad they didn't go too literal on Cinderella's since it is easy to just do exactly like her dress in the movie. It's just very classic and simple)

Belle
(Belle's dress is very romantic which I think is perfect. I didn't like the picture of the dress on the mannequin but on this model it looks great.)

Movie Monday: Legally Blonde 2

Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies! And thankfully the second one provided us with a wedding! Having the wedding in a baseball field (as Emmett wanted) would have been a great touch, the creation they made was not exactly what I pictured for Elle Woods.

It all started with Elle's very own wedding planning corner in her Washington office. Of course she decked things out in pink but she also found a way to balance planning a huge event and passing legislation.

Then she takes time to pick out flowers with with her doorman. Who happens to say that calla lilies are the it flower for weddings. So if you're looking to be like Elle, go with the calla lilies (and probably a lot of pink flowers).

Elle even takes some time to try out different "I do up-do's" (that definitely need incorporated in daily wedding language). Although I was a bit confused at to why she loves the up-do so much and chose instead to have her hair down. Oh well.

The movie of course ends with the happy couple's wedding. Although I think the overall effect if gorgeous, there are a few things that bothered me. First, a pink wedding dress?? Yes, Elle loves pink but even she would chose a white traditional dress, right? At the beginning of the movie she is even trying on a white ball gown dress (Paulette recommends a white leather dress). But I think the princess ball gown style is much more Elle.
Second, did you notice that the flowers are purple? If she loves pink enough to make her wedding dress that color then why wouldn't her flowers follow suit? I do like having an accent color for weddings so I don't mind this as much but it seems out of place.
Lastly, Elle drives away in a super adorable car! But what's so wrong with that? SHE is driving. I don't know about other woman but on my wedding day I don't want be worrying about driving. Get a driver or at least don't emasculate your husband and let him drive. I'm sure plenty of people don't agree with me on that. I am a strong feminist but I personally prefer classic gender roles. I know that's not for everyone so take it or leave it .

Tea Forte

I used to work at Nordstrom in the "At Home" department and we sold this type of tea. It's called Tea Forte and the packaging is adorable! A triangular fabric bag with a little leaf at the top. They can make great favors for a wedding. The few draw backs that I would mention are that the bags will most likely go best with a green color scheme, and giving just one tea bag can seem silly. But in this picture each tea bag comes with the tea tray as well, which guest would be able to use in the future for their soaked tea bags or their mixing spoons. As far as I know the trays come in green or white. You would want to find a way to buy in bulk (although supporting Nordstrom is always great in my book) because if you buy at the individual price they'll definitely cost too much for a wedding favor. I like the personalization of them in this picture too. That would be easy and affordable enough for any bride.
Overall, as much as I love tea forte, the singular color would still hold me back from using it as my favors. But anyone including green in their wedding should definitely look into it! They're fun and different, with a quirky feel but still classic.

Mr. and Mrs. Forks

Well this is pretty much adorable! Mr. and Mrs. Forks!! I'm a sucker for cute things like this. Eat your first piece of wedding cake with it and whenever you have an anniversary dinner, bring out the personalized forks again!
But I guess I have to be honest with myself, it's really not necessary. Adorable but if you're trying to save money then these are not needed in any way. It's just a fun thing for you and your hubby if you've got some extra cash to burn.
Had to share though.

Twist Bridesmaid Dress

So I was just browsing through and I found this dress. It's a convertible dress that can be worn many different way. Seems like a great idea for a bridesmaid dress right??

Check out this video:

So...the truth is, I hate it! Good idea, and I've never tried it but here's what I believe from the video. Most of the dress options have open backs which is not comfortable for many woman. Also, I would be very concerned about the boobs. The light material means you would really want to wear a bra but with the backless-ness it would be difficult to find the right bra. And that light material may stay on someone flat chested but if you're full figured then it will slide right off. You'll need double-sided tape to keep it up. So while it may work for some bridesmaids, my guess is that it won't work for most. Sorry, keep looking.

Wedding Workout Wednesday 1

One of the toughest things a bride will go through is the pressure to look her best. Since it's almost New Years and everyone else becomes obsessed with getting in shape too, it seems like a good time to start thinking about working out.

So I found this great article from The Knot that seems simple enough. (http://wedding.theknot.com/wedding-beauty-tips/wedding-workout-exercise/articles/six-month-fitness-makeover.aspx) It's a 6 month program and I'll go through different parts of it every week.

Week 1 and week 2: 20 minutes of aerobic three times a week
Completely do-able right?
My favorite for aerobic exercise would be of course... dance!
Maybe do something sexy for your honeymoon. Have you heard of the S Factor?? Or there's Flirty Girl Fitness (although I watched that and didn't love it)
Find something that is fun! So you don't feel like it's such a hassle. I'll probably stick with Highland Dance and Clogging (it's what I do). But I think it's best to do something different each day or I'll just stop doing it.

Brooch Bouquet

First post!!

I figured to start things off we should look at a wedding trend that encompasses some of my favorite things: vintage, flowers, and sparkle. It's the brooch bouquet! I honestly didn't know this existed until a few months ago. It seems like such a great idea. The bouquet will last forever, can be completely personalized, and it will definitely get attention. The only downside is that it's obviously not flowers! You don't get the smell or texture of flowers. But given that there will be tons of other flowers around you at a wedding it won't matter all that much. The bouquet are just so gorgeous and unique!
